Football Tickets

Today, I got up about 7 am to go get season tickets for Ole Miss football. My friend Micah picked me up about 8:30 am and we rolled out. When we arrived at the coliseum, we discovered a line wrapped halfway around the building. We jumped in line and prepared for the long wait.

About an hour and a half of waiting (a little past halfway there) there became rumors of a second line that was for people with cash or check. Amazed at this discovery (I had cash and Micah had his checkbook), Micah went to check it out. Sure enough there was a short line of about 15 people. Quickly, I jumped at the opportunity and walked up to the short line. About 5 people before we got inside the door, some lady comes up and says we can't use this line anymore. Infuriated because we had given up our spot in the long line, we walked back to the end of the original line. We had to wait another 2 hours before we finally got our tickets.

Later, I realized this is a lot like life. People are always eager to lunge at the easy way out when instead they should do things the right way in the first place. We wasted at least an hour of our time because we wanted the easy way out.

I suppose the lines are like the Christian walk. The short line could represent straying away from the path that God has chosen for us. Then, when God yanks us back, we have to start all over because we destroyed the progress we've made. The long line shows that sometimes things aren't easy or we have to be patient for things to happen. But in the end, the reward is sweet.

My front axle

So my new axle came in Wednesday night and I gotta say that thing is friggin sweet! Dana 44 with 5.13 gears, arb locker, chromoly axle shafts *wipes drool off the floor.* I started tearing out the front axle last night and hit a snag. Apparently you have to have a huge socket to remove the axle nut from the axle shaft in order to remove the unit bearing. I did something stupid and guesstimated the size i would need...about 33mm. I drove up to autozone and bought one and then looked up the size i would need. Turns out I was off by 3mm (in other words i need a 36mm socket). So now i have to go back, return the useless socket i have and get the right one. what a pain in the butt. Gonna go back after school and hopefully be able to completely remove the busted Dana 30 and maybe even have the new D44 in tonight.

Learning Bass

So I've been working on playing the bass for the SMASH band. It's not nearly as easy as I thought. I mean come on. There are four strings and you play with your fingers...how hard could it be? Apparently harder then I thought. With the drums it was natural for me. All I had to be was coordinated and have good rhythm. With this thing I actually have to put forth the effort to learn notes, scales, etc. Should be a nice challenge that I'll enjoy.

Practiced with my buddy Davide on a couple of songs. Learned a little blues and The Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin.
